- The US government announced USD2.8 billion in grants from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law to support and develop the domestic EV battery value chains; Ascent Elements and Cirba Solutions will receive USD480 million and USD75 million grants respectively.
- Li-Cycle commenced its Spoke plant with an annual capacity of 10,000 tonnes of batteries in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, totalling 30,000 tonnes of its Spoke capacity in North America.
- New facilities of Brunp, Tinci Materials, Lvwo New Energy and Guangdong Guanghua Sci-Tech are expected to recycle LFP EoL batteries in the coming years.
Global battery recycling pre-treatment capacity has reached around 1.3 million tonnes of batteries per year as of October 2022, with China accounting for 79% of the total capacity.
