Massachusetts-based battery recycling and materials company Ascend Elements has co-signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with South Korean battery materials company EcoPro Group. The MoU establishes an agreement between the two companies to pursue collaboration on the development and integration of recycled battery materials into EcoPro’s cathode products. Ascend Elements will utilise its Hydro-to-Cathode™ process to transform black mass into high-performance cathode precursor, which will then be supplied to EcoPro. The South Korean company will then convert the material into battery-grade CAM, in-turn supplying some of North America’s largest EV battery manufacturers.

Ascend Elements has also recently announced a USD1 billion investment in a new sustainable lithium-ion battery materials facility, “Apex 1”, in Hopkinsville, Kentucky. The site will supposedly be able to produce enough CAM to power…
