BP is set to invest USD 61.1 million in a new electric vehicle battery testing facility and analytical laboratory in Berkshire, United Kingdom. The investment is intended to develop battery and fluid technology engineering to new applications such as electric vehicles, ultra-fast charging, and thermal management fluids for data centres. The site is expected to open in 2024 at the Castrol headquarters and technology centre in Pangbourne. The project announcement supports BP’s commitment to invest just under USD 22 billion in the UK energy system by the end of 2030.
