BlueOval SK, a joint venture between South Korean battery producer SK On and US vehicle manufacturer Ford, has commenced construction of the BlueOval SK Battery Park in Glendale, Kentucky. The site will house two EV battery production plants as well as the Elizabeth Community and Technical College (ECTC) BlueOval SK Training Centre for around 5,000 workers to gain staff training in battery manufacturing. The USD5.8 billion project will have the largest production capacity for a single battery production facility in the US, with twin EV plants producing 86GWh annually when fully operational. Batteries from the plant will be used to power Ford and Lincoln EVs.

Ford and SK On announced in September 2021 that a total joint investment of USD11.4 billion would go towards two new mega battery campuses in Kentucky and Tennessee, with three plants across the two locations to be developed and operated by BlueOval SK.
