General Motors and POSCO Chemical have announced plans to build a new joint venture plant in Quebec, Canada. This new facility will produce cathode active material consisting of components including processed nickel, lithium and other materials. This will be used in GM’s Ultium batteries, which will power a number of electric vehicles in their fleet, including the Chevrolet Silverado EV, GMC HUMMER EV and Cadillac LYRIQ.
