Nio’s introduction of the 150kWh solid-state battery pack marks a transformative milestone for its vehicles, delivering an extended range and enhanced energy density. This groundbreaking technology, supplied by WeLion, will make its debut in the upcoming ES6 SUV, allowing customers in China to opt for this high-energy pack as early as this month. While initially advertised to offer an impressive range of 620 miles (1,000 km) on a single charge, the current range stands at around 578 miles. Despite facing delays and uncertainties, Nio has made the decision to integrate solid-state batteries into its EV lineup. In May, the company submitted a filing to China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, outlining its ambitious plans to equip three existing EV models with enhanced battery capabilities provided by solid-state battery developer WeLion.
