According to a press release from the company, Group14 has raised USD400 million from a consortium led by Porsche AG to support US based production of silicon dominant anodes to customers including Porsche subsidiary Cellforce Group.

Group14 states that its next-generation materials help lithium-silicon batteries deliver 50% higher performance than traditional lithium-ion batteries. Silicon dominant anodes tend to be compatible with existing manufacturing facilities and processes, and the company suggests this as a major advantage versus other second-generation technologies.
