On the 14th June 2023, Canada-based LFP cathode active material (CAM) producer Nano One and US-based battery cell producer Our Next Energy (ONE) signed a joint development agreement (JDA) to develop a North American LFP cathode supply chain. Under the JDA, both companies will collaborate on the development, qualification and production of North American LFP battery materials. CAM will be manufactured at Nano One’s Candiac facility in Quebec, Canada, which is currently being repurposed to house the company’s One-Pot process for LFP cathode material production. Pilot-scale production is expected to commence at the plant in Q3 2023, which is one of the earliest sites to produce LFP cathode materials in North America.
