Posco Holdings has announced the completion of its secondary battery recycling plant in Brzeg Dolny, Poland. The Poland Legnica Sourcing Centre (PLSC) will process 7,000 tonnes of European-sourced used batteries to produce black mass, a fine powder containing lithium, cobalt, nickel and manganese. This product will then be shipped to Posco HY Clean Metal, a joint venture set up by Posco and Huayou Cobalt Co., to extract the materials. The new plant will also cooperate with South Korean battery company SungEel Hitech Co. to reprocess the secondary batteries.
