A recently announced pilot scheme has allocated USD23.6 million (GBP20 million) in funding to enhance charging infrastructure in the UK. The initiative includes an investment of USD11.8 million (GBP10 million) from the UK government, with additional support coming from private funding and local government resources.

The nine public authorities chosen by the Department of Transport include Durham, North Yorkshire and Warrington in Northern England, Midlands Connect and Nottinghamshire in the Midlands and Kent, Suffolk, Barnet and Dorset in the South. The scheme aims to build 1,000 faster on-street charging points and larger charging hubs to support electric vehicle uptake in the UK, as well as to encourage collaboration between local authorities and industry.
