Umicore introduces its next generation of Li-ion battery recycling technologies and announces partnership with Automotive Cells Company (ACC) to provide battery recycling services for its pilot plant in Nersac, France.

Umicore is a global pioneer in the recycling of rechargeable batteries. Since 2011, its Hoboken facility has been recycling up to 7,000 tonnes of lithium-ion (Li-ion) batteries and battery production scrap per annum, the equivalent of 35,000 electric vehicle (EV) batteries. A decade’s worth of continuous research and development is reflected in its new process, which shows a significant improvement in recycling performance, with a particular emphasis on EV batteries.
