On the 5th of June, a republican led US house select Committee on the Chinese Communist party (CCP) sent two letters to the Department of Homeland Security. The letters claim evidence that battery giants CATL and Gotion are using forced labour within their battery supply chains. The group called for the two companies to be blacklisted under the Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act and ban imports of their products. This comes in the context of the US looking to onshore its battery industry moving away from any reliance on China through the IRA and tariffs.
